If You're Wondering How to Help, This Is the Answer
For the past few months, Fridays have been filled with photos of famous people sharing the same name, and we vote for our favorites. It's stupid, but sometimes stupid fun is what we need to make it through another day.
It's sobering to remember that there are people who need food, water, and shelter to make it through another day. Literally.
So today instead of voting for our favorite Chris (that's next week), let's remember that we all share the same name... we're all children of God. Even if you don't believe in a higher power, perhaps you believe that we're all connected to each other, that we have a responsibility to those who are suffering, that we have a responsibility to the children and families who have seen everything around them destroyed.
Right now, there are thousands of people in Aleppo displaced from their homes by violence. There are thousands in Mosul who have barricaded themselves in their homes to wait out the fighting and have run out of food. We can't even begin to understand the suffering.
But we can help.
I have tears in my eyes thinking about the organizations that are on the ground, assisting people, loving people, feeding people, and being the hands and feet in places we'd never dream of going.
Please consider donating to Preemptive Love Coalition. They have people in Iraq, Iran, and Syria feeding the starving, sheltering the displaced, giving jobs to women... it's beautiful, amazing work, and we can be part of their team by simply entering a credit card number.
I know it's Christmas and we've all been spending a million dollars in recent weeks, but every dollar helps and matters greatly. This is the time to remember that we all share the same name and that we can make a difference by supporting people who have given their lives to changing the world.
What a beautiful thing.
