Wonder Women, Final Two
I have never been prouder of our group of Internet people. Sandra Bullock and Kate Winslet are remarkable women whom I love with all my heart, but this final two is a joy to witness.
They are older.
They are beautiful but not in the traditional Hollywood sense.
They are smart, multi-talented, and unaffected by the charms of celebrity.
They are philanthropic, kind, and just.
They are truly two of the most talented, authentic, and consistently good women that have ever graced our screens.
Our country has been through a lot in recent days (or weeks, months, years, generations), and I'm proud that our communal love has led to these two women... who aren't Americans but whatever. We are more than our outside. Our age doesn't automatically exclude us from being significant and affective in the world. We are three-dimensional humans, not flat pin-ups with no worth beyond our bodies.
Sure, this whole voting thing has been a stupid little game to make Fridays more fun, but as this final two has rolled in, it's gone deeper in me than I expected. As we watch women, the disabled, the aging, and, in most recent news, people of color have to fight for equal opportunities, even to the death, I'm moved that we see deeper even in something like this. We proclaim inward beauty, goodness, and living proudly in our art as more revered than a beautiful face. There's nothing wrong with a beautiful face, but it's refreshing and a tiny buoy for my soul to see that we are more. We choose more. We love more.
This has been so stinkin' fun.
Our Final Two

You guys? It was an actual tie. A literal, actual tie... 285 to 285.
I am amazingly happy about this.
Thanks for making this summer extra fun.
