Wonder Women, Final 8
If you look back at the first round one when all of you were gnashing your teeth at me because it was "SO HARD," we can all have a good laugh together at how much of a cakewalk that was.
I would've picked five of these to be shoe-ins for the final eight, one is a surprise but happy addition, and two are coming out of the woodwork to slay. Gird your loins, friends. It's time to vote.
#1 Sandra Bullock v. #2 Tina Fey
Our sweetheart Sandy:
Has taken down: Jessica Alba, Jenna Fischer, Julia Louis Dreyfus, and Emma Watson in a pretty uneven fight.
Fun facts: voted "Most Likely to Brighten Up Your Day" by her high school senior class, would've played Wonder Woman if the movie had been made ten years ago when initial pre-production started, turned down the lead role in Million Dollar Baby, was turned down for the lead role in Runaway Bride, and speaks fluent German.
Our tremendous Tina:
Has taken down: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ginnifer Goodwin, Helen Mirren, and Emily Blunt in a respectable fight. RIP Blunt. We'll miss you.
Fun facts: first ever female head writer on SNL, super personal but unusual and dear that she's "Biblically" been with only her husband, was nominated for her role as Liz Lemon in every season of the show for both the Emmys and Golden Globes (she won two Globes and one Emmy).
#1 Meryl Streep v. #7 Julie Andrews
Our mesmerizing Meryl:
Has taken down: Kathryn Hahn, Judi Dench, Melissa McCarthy, and our beloved Lauren Graham in a super close race.
Fun facts: originally wanted to be a lawyer but missed her interview when she overslept and took it as a sign of a different path, was turned down for the role of Miss Kenton in Remains of the Day which of course went to our beloved Emma Thompson, the longest she's gone without an Oscar nomination is five years, and said this: "I try to lead as ordinary a life as I can. You can't get spoiled if you do your own ironing."
Our jubilant Julie:
Has taken down: Sarah Paulson, Kerry Washington, Emma Stone, and Jennifer Garner in basically a blowout.
Fun facts: became a star at TWENTY-ONE when she starred as Eliza Doolittle in Broadway's My Fair Lady, only took the role of Mary Poppins after she wasn't cast in the film version of My Fair Lady (Audrey Hepburn was) and took home the Oscar for Best Actress that year... beating Audrey, owns a house in Switzerland and every year pays for the town's Christmas lights, she adopted two children from Vietnam in the 1970s, and has been quoted to say she's never wanted to be seen as "wholesome."
#1 Reese Witherspoon v. #6 Emma Thompson
Our radiant Reese:
Has taken down: Demi Moore, Zoe Saldana, Amy Adams, and just manhandled Claire Danes.
Fun facts: her parents have medical PhD's, she's related to a guy who signed the Declaration of Independence, she has played both Robert Pattinson's mother and lover (in two different movies, of course), and has said she "doesn't know how to be the woman everybody likes." We'll skip over that drunken tirade.
Our enchanting Emma:
Has taken down: Amy Schumer, Rashida Jones, Jennifer Aniston, and Maggie Smith, and every victory was strong.
Fun facts: her sister is Sophie Thompson aka the talkative spinster in Emma, adopted a Rwandan child soldier when he was 16, is one of the funniest women in Hollywood despite her career in dramas, and once called Liam Neeson "sex on legs."
#2 Kate Winslet v. #16 Kristen Bell
Our captivating Kate:
Has taken down: Mariska Hargitay, Anne Hathaway, Mandy Moore, and Amy Poehler.
Fun facts: was born into a family of actors, Emma Thompson noticed her at a cattle call audition for Sense and Sensibility and Kate (an unknown) beat out over 100 girls and was nominated for an Oscar for the role, the youngest actress to ever receive two Oscar nominations (the second for Titanic), and she's a prankster.
Our kindhearted Kristen:
Has taken down: Octavia Spencer, Julia Roberts, Cate Blanchett, and Betty White. I had NO IDEA the Kristen love was so strong.
Fun facts: is a huge Detroit Red Wings fan, stopped being a vegan because she loved cheese too much (amen, sister), has dessert after every meal including breakfast, played on an all-boys baseball team for two years as a teenager, and loves to shop at Bed Bath & Beyond... with coupons.
